Yellow Petunia (Petunia hybrida)
The plant does not suffer from a serious infectious disease, but rather from exhaustion due to flowering and natural senescence. By producing so many flowers simultaneously, the petunia demands a lot of energy and water. If old flowers are not removed, the plant interprets that its reproductive cycle is ending. Intense sun conditions and lack of ventilation in a window can accelerate wilting if the substrate dries out too quickly between waterings.
Using your fingers or clean scissors, remove all flowers that are already dry or brown.
If stems become very long and thin, trim the tips to encourage branched growth.
Apply a liquid fertilizer rich in potassium, diluted in irrigation water, to support flowering.
Ensure water drains correctly through the pot's drainage holes to prevent root rot.
Frequent, once a day in summer, avoiding wetting flowers and leaves.
Full sun, minimum of 6 to 8 hours of direct daily light.
Ideal between 15°C and 25°C. Sensitive to frost and extreme heat.
Nutrient-rich, with excellent drainage and slightly acidic pH.
Fertilizer for flowering plants every 15 days during growth.
